Located in Wettolsheim, at the heart of Alsace, Vignoble des 2 Lunes is a seventh-generation family estate now led by sisters Amélie and Cécile Buecher. Since taking the reins in 2009, the duo has combined deep family tradition with a forward-thinking approach to biodynamic viticulture. Their 14 hectares of vineyards have been certified biodynamic by Demeter since 2007, and the name “Vignoble des 2 Lunes”, meaning “Vineyard of the Two Moons”, reflects their belief in working in harmony with nature’s rhythms. From lunar pruning to horse-ploughing, every decision in the vineyard and cellar honours balance, energy, and respect for the land. The resulting wines are pure, expressive and deeply mineral, capturing the essence of Alsace’s limestone and marl soils. Each cuvée tells the story of the region’s terroir through the lens of biodynamic farming and gentle, low-intervention winemaking. A beautifully pure expression of Alsace Riesling, Genèse is crafted from certified biodynamic vineyards grown on limestone-marl hillsides. The fruit is hand-picked and wild-fermented with native yeasts, resting on fine lees to enhance texture and depth. Fermentation finishes naturally, leaving less than a gram of residual sugar, resulting in a dry, mineral-driven style that captures the clarity and precision of the region. Only a touch of sulphur is added at bottling to preserve freshness. Expect zesty citrus and green apple, lifted floral notes and a subtle saline edge that speaks of its biodynamic origins. A perfect match for seafood, Asian cuisine, or a quiet glass on a sunny afternoon. - Franc About Wine, Importer.
