Like a lot of things that begin as a little "trendy" (relevantly read: natural wine), the rise in quality, creativity and downright fun has ensured RTDs and Selzters are here to stay. And aren't we here for it?
Today's RTD landscape is packed with everything from hard seltzers and ranch waters to canned cocktails, spritzes and botanical soda-style drinks. Whether you love fruity pét-nat, a bitter aperitivo, a crisp G&T or a proper margarita, there's a can with your name on it. They're being made by some of Australia's most exciting breweries, distilleries and drinks producers, proving convenience doesn't have to come at the expense of quality.
Love fruity pét-nat? Try a peach and citrus seltzer. More of a vermouth and soda person? Reach for an acai berry spritz or local plum soda. Fancy a margarita at the beach without lugging half your bar with you? There's a can for that too. Need a roadie for a quick swim? Grab an RTD or a Selzter!
Most hard seltzers begin with the fermentation of cane sugar or malted grains before being infused with fruit and botanicals, while canned cocktails combine real spirits with thoughtfully crafted mixers. The result? Drinks that are refreshing, flavour-packed and made for wherever the day takes you.
Whether they're a nostalgic nod to smashing UDLs and Ruskis at sunset with Phoenix playing in the background, or a showcase of Australia's obsession with native botanicals, craft spirits and experimentation, RTDs and Selzters have become much more than a passing trend. They're simply one of the best ways to drink well, with minimal fuss.
