From Jeff Treager’s vineyard in Vine Vale at 280 metres above sea level, rooted in alluvial soils with very old sand over yellow-orange clay. The sand comes from the breakdown of compressed sandstone, while the clay — once an ocean floor — now sits 400 to 600 millimetres beneath the surface. The 2024 vintage was glorious, and the Chardonnay was picked and pressed into 600-litre French tonneaux, where it fermented and aged for 18 months before racking.
