Ocelot choc is crafted in a micro chocolate factory in Edinburgh, Scotland, by two legends: Matt and Ish. They use only the highest quality ethical produce, and employ ethical business practices in every way possible. Everything is made by hand, designed and packed in their little factory. All packaging is plastic-free and made in the UK – outer packaging is printed using water based inks on FSC certified sustainable card; inner film is certified home and industrial compostable. Femme is an exceptional organic dark milk chocolate crafted from rare Amelonado cocoa beans grown by the world’s first female cocoa cooperative in Eastern Congo. Not only have they created a future for themselves and their children, they're also actively protecting the natural biodiversity of their homelands in Virunga National Park – Africa’s oldest nature reserve, home to the last of the Mountain Gorillas. The co-op also gives the women access to higher education and a professional career. Ocelot's partner Original Beans works directly with the cooperative, paying more than 2x Fairtade price, and supporting this groundbreaking project. Amelonado beans give this bar its gentle yet striking flavour, reminiscent of honey on buttered toast.
The milk used to make Femme comes from organically reared Swiss Brown cows, who graze on open mountain pasture in small family-based herds of less than thirty cows. These cows feed on more than 100 different Alpine wildflowers, and clear mountain water, which gives the chocolate its creamy, floral tones. 70g.
