The own-rooted bush vines are thirty years old and sit on shallow grey sandy soils over ironstone. The site faces east and sits at an altitude of 280 metres. The handpicked fruit was all destemmed and spent one month on skins before the free run juice was sent to locally made amphora. The wine was then bottled after 12 months. “I’ve made this wine 16 times and it’s different this year to any other year,” James told us.
