2022 'Skins' Riesling
Elevated at 300m asl, this vineyard was planted in the early 2000’s by an old Italian fellow searching out the perfect place to grow his own grapes and wine label. Planted in several parcels nestled onto a gentle West facing slope, these vines have their roots down in sandy soils over decomposing granite and quartz ridges. Hand harvested with 50% of the Riesling destemmed and 50% left wholebunch in a single ferment. This was left to naturally ferment through both primary and secondary fermentation on stems for 3 weeks with minimal plunging. Post ferment it was pressed into an aged in neutral French Puncheons for 12 months, its was racked into stainless and allowed to settle for two months prior to bottling. At bottling there was 20ppm sulphur added and zero fining or filtration. - Dave Geyer, Winemaker.
