Established in 1995 by Pat Griffin, a neighbour of Norm and Dianne, after Norm convinced him it was good idea to plant a vineyard. The vineyard changed hands in the early 2000s which saw a stint of it not being part of Eastern Peake until the late 2010s when Owen was again offered a lease over the site. Since then it’s been farmed with the same organic and regenerative principles as Eastern Peake. The Griffins Road vineyard is about 2km south west of Eastern Peake and the soils here differ slightly with deep red volcanic loam interspersed with grey loam. Despite the fact that production is the same as the Intrinsic and Walsh Block also on offer here, the 2022 Griffins Road pinot noir is arguably the finest structured and most elegant of this release. - Owen Latta, Winemaker.
