Champagne Fleury - Blanc de Noirs Brut

The OG and largest biodynamic Champagne producer, Fleury, is situated in the Côte des Bars, in the South of Champagne. Jean-Sébastien Fleury has noted that they were the first Champagne producers using biodynamics, at the hands of his father, Jean-Pierre, back in the day. His interest in sustainable wine growing began in the 1970s when he tried using manual tilling and composting (instead of herbicides and synthetic fertilisers). In 1992 he converted his entire 15 hectare vineyard holdings to biodynamics. Recently, two producers in the same village of Courteron were so impressed by the benefits of biodynamics that they have converted, bringing the total to some 30 hectares in this village!

Their Blanc de Noirs Brut is 100% Pinot Noir and 110% class. An intense, toasty nose of apple and almond slides into a round and rich palate, with plenty of red berry fruits, biscuit, peach and mineral notes. Dry and long finish, like the lingering melody of your favourite song. Impossibly elegant, and fresh. Such incredible value from a biodynamic pioneer; can't go wrong!
