2022 Glen Forbes Chardonnay

Fleet sort of snuck in under the radar and then blew us out of the water with their wines release after release. You want to be sunk by their battleship; as they say. Fleet sort of snuck in under the radar and then blew us out of the water with their wines release after release. You want to be sunk by their battleship; as they say. We’ve been praising the Pinot’s in the shop but here’s a charming Chardonnay. Deliciously textural that offers an array of orchard fruits; preserved lemons, pears & quince with top notes of white flowers, and flinty/wet stone characters. You’d honestly think it was Chenin - all those aromatics and acidity. The black sandy soils situated in these cooler parts of South Gippsland give depth, structure and power to this chardonnay. If you don’t drink it, cellar it. Reward is clear. Fleet Wines is the result of 30 years of experience in wine hospitality for Justin and Lisa Jenkins. Their label speaks volumes of their talent, all the wines have a telltale elegance and vibrancy to them that separates them from many other Pinot producers. They source their fruit from Gippsland, Mornington Peninsula and the Yarra Valley with an increasing amount being farmed by them personally. This is where the beauty of the new wave of wine makers should be sitting at.
