Despite the modernity of Claus' striking winery (nestled in the village of Gols by Lake Neusiedlersee in Burgenland), everything is hands-off and inherently natural. Claus’ wines are always harmonious, each element perfectly balanced against one another. It’s like they walk on a tightrope against a clear, blue sky. His methods are guided by instinct rather than formula, and he is perpetually experimenting and evolving, making wine markedly different in style to the classic interpretations coming out of the region.
