The lion’s share of the Grenache fruit comes from the Ryan Road Vineyard, a site James started working with in 2020. It’s managed by Dave Gartlemann, sits at 60 metres elevation and is home to 44-year-old vines. It’s a rock-rich site, the soils are silty sand over red clay, interspersed with schist and ironstone. It was blended with the pressings from the Lillies and Wood vineyards and bottled after 11 months.
