2023 Pétillant Naturel Chardonnay

BK has done a few pet-nats celebrating two of the kingpin sparkling varieties - Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. The Chardonnay example is powerfully pure - loads of apricot danish and spring flowers; lime zest, honeysuckle, cooked apples and a touch of golden wattle that seems to be coating the floors of every footpath at the moment. Though his approach is less dogmatic than others in the HIlls, his ethos is true, sensitive and genuine - biodynamically farmed fruit where he can, fermented with wild yeasts, unfined and unfiltered. His ex-pro skater past…skates through the wines. They’re fun, complex, wild. BK leads by example and many others follow - a true leader for the region.
