Frankland has the most continental climate of the Great Southern’s five sub-regions, with growing seasons marked by warm days followed by cold nights. 2023 was an absolute cracker of a vintage in these parts, with mild temperatures and near-perfect conditions for ripening. The fruit for the Franklandia Malbec was harvested by hand before being destemmed into picking bins, where it was fermented with indigenous yeasts.
