En Banode is a special plot planted by Jean Gros in 1970; it is planted with Savagnin and Chardonnay grape varieties, after 45 years the harvest is small and the Savagnin grape variety is ripe at the same time as the Chardonnay. En Banode is a special plot planted by Jean Gros in 1970; it is planted with Savagnin and Chardonnay grape varieties, after 45 years the harvest is small and the Savagnin grape variety is ripe at the same time as the Chardonnay. We harvest the entire plot with the two grape varieties that we vinify together in stainless steel vats first, then the wine will be aged in a 25hls tuns (which corresponds to the harvested volume) for 1 year. Then the wine will be racked into 500 liter barrels, the barrels are filled but will not be topped up. Before bottling we taste each barrel and blend them.
The vinification and aging together of the 2 grape varieties exacerbates the minerality and salinity. This wine expresses a beautiful harmony. It can be served chilled as an aperitif. It will go perfectly with hot starters, pike quenelles or a fillet of sole. - Mosaique Wines, Importer.
