The fruit for the Hedonist Cabernet is grown biodynamically on their own vineyard situated in the Willunga foothills, McLaren Vale. Warm Summer days are cooled by evening sea breezes from St Vincent’s Gulf, which lies close to the West. The soil is rich loam over clay with patches of underlying limestone, giving the wine richness and fullness, but with a delightful sense of levity that makes it endlessly drinkable. Hedonist have long been staples in our humble shop, perfect easy drinkers that suit all palates and all occasions. Great to have something simple and versatile that still sits in the organic category. The winemaking team consists of Walter Clappis, a veteran winemaker of 36 vintages, his daughter Kimberly and her partner James Cooter. Walter’s experience and wisdom plus the energy and enthusiasm of the new generation, has created the perfect balance in the winery. All the wines reflect a purity which is consistent with the winemakers and their philosophies.
