2021 Côtes du Rhône 'La Ferrande'

Philippe Bravay’s domaine is tiny (only 5.5 hectares) and the vines are situated around the outskirts of the Châteauneuf du Pâpe AOP, in the lieu-dit Ferrand. His neighbours in this Northern fringe near Orange are Charvin, Marcoux and Beaucastel. La Ferrande is 100% Syrah, a grape that Philippe is intrigued by and so decided to bottle it separately as a Côtes du Rhône. La Ferrande is 100% Syrah, a grape that Philippe is intrigued by and so decided to bottle it separately as a Côtes du Rhône. As always, it’s a perfect wine in terms of ripeness, offering up excellent purity in its bouquet of blueberry, black raspberries, pepper, smoke, a hint of dark chocolate and a lovely base of stony soil tones. On the palate the wine is deep, complex and nicely plush with a fine core of fruit and silken tannins.
