Val' Frison - NV Goustan Blanc de Noirs Brut
In the village of Cote des Bar in the south of Champagne, Valerie Frison grows 6 hectares of vines grown organically since 2003. Only 3.5 hectares are used in the production of Val's wines, with the rest going to a local cooperative. Valerie is passionate about biodiversity, refusing to use harmful chemicals and pesticides in order to craft pure, expressive cuvees. In the winery, fermentation is always natural, with no additions of sulphur after disgorgment.
Cuvee Goustan is such a beautiful exemplar of a vibrant, expressive grower champagne. It's 100% Pinot Noir harvested in 2015, and aged for 6 months on lees. No fining or filtration, and no dosage after disgorgement, making this Brut Nature, allowing the purity of the fruit to shine. This is a wine with incredible texture, complexity and length, with a buzzing energy of ripe red berries, blue flowers and wild herbs. Fine bubbles dance on your tongue, while aromas of fruit 'n spice fill the air. Enjoy it before or after a meal – with some French cheese please!
