Testalonga - 2019 Stay Brave

This is a lively orange wine (12 days on skins) crafted with fruit from a tiny 1.5 ha block in Swartland that had been abandoned until 2014 when Craig Hawkins undertook the task of reviving the bush vines – farming organically of course. This vineyard gives a distinct salty character to the wines, which is oh-so moreish. Pretty floral aromas mingle with herbs, ginger, spices, lemon and orange. A purity of fruit expression in the mouth, jubilant acidity and some subtle grippy phenolics. Irresistible.

Craig is one of the most influential, defiant and exciting winemakers in South Africa – and the New World. Employing hard-core organic farming and intervention-free winemaking practices, Craig and wife Carla have changed the image of wine in a deeply conservative continent. This wine won't hang around for long.
