Hibiki 17 Kacho Fugetsu Limited Edition
HOLY SMOKES. This is hard-core collector stuff. A special limited edition Hibiki hand decorated with red-crowned cranes and the chrysanthemum, reflecting the 'Beauty of Japanese Nature' (Kacho Fugetsu). It's presented on Hibiki's a special 24-facet decanter bottle, which symbolises the traditional Japanese lunar calendar. Released in 2015 in tiny numbers from the House of Suntory, Hibiki 17 is a harmonious blend of specially aged whiskies – Yamazaki and Hakushu single malts along with single grain from Chita distillery. So silken, so heavenly.
First launched in 1989, Hibiki contains an unusually high proportion of Single Malt for a blend; upwards of 50%. Thirty different malts are employed from Suntory's three distilleries, most aged well above 17 years. Hibiki has been chosen multiple times as the best blended whisky in the world at international competitions. With Hibiki 17 discontinued, this is the first and last we will ever get out hands on.
