Songs from Mars - 2019 Kurocks Grenache

A vigorous, generous wine woven with tighly-packed threads of earthiness, cherry, cola and oriental spice, with a sappy, saline edge. Fruit from vines over a century old, so the concentration levels and length are through the roof. Really special stuff crafted by Californian winemaking superstar Matthew Rorick (of Forlorn Hope), working alongside buddy Jaysen Collins (Massena Wines) in the alien land of the Barossa. A ludicrously limited seasonal release.

"Sourced from a 115 year old block in the Eden Valley’s Stonegarden Vineyard. The 2019 Kurocks was given a vigorous pigeage upon arrival at the winery in order to break up the clusters – 100% stems were included in the fermentation, but it was not carbonically macerated. The wine was on the skins and stems for a total of 11 days, after which it was basket pressed down to one 475L and one 300L puncheon where it finished fermentation and rested for 10 months. Fermentation was achieved with native yeast, and no additions save minimal effective SO2 were added. Bottled unfined and unfiltered." – Songs From Mars
