2021 Tangerine Dream
Layer on layer on layer, like your fave winter outfit. On the nose: citrus peel and spice blend with baser notes of oatmeal and brown rice. In the mouth it's full and dry, with grainy tannin. This is a red drinker's white, crafted from Semillon, Pedro Ximenes, Riesling. It is layered, textural, closer to a complex Chardonnay than the more intense wines you have may have experienced in "orange" land. Perfect for a deep lover of the style, but a gateway to those who may be curious for it.
This is one of those classic, reliable, progressive examples of macerated whites in Australia. Wayne is really taking the style in his stride and now in his 9th vintage of this cuvee. It celebrates the wonderful array of varieties that his grower, Ken, has cultivated and kept over the years; some of the oldest in Australia (the majority of these vines saw out the first world war!).
