Serragghia di Giotto & Gabrio Bini - 2018 Rosso Fanino

In a former life Gabrio Bini was an eccentric architect in Milan. Today, he’s an eccentric winemaker in Pantelleria; a tiny rugged volcanic mass 100km south-west of Sicily, known for its capers and hot springs. While Gabrio makes otherworldly capers, his wine is the stuff of gods. Fruit from old vines planted over ancient terraces on volcanic soils. The vineyards have never been treated and are tended by hand and horse. Grapes are handpicked and left to ferment slowly in terracotta amphorae buried in the vineyard. Gabrio’s 2018 ‘Rosso Fanino’ is a blend of Cataratto and Pignatello that takes you on a sensory journey through unusual Jura-esque terrain – bright sour cherries, dried fruits & honey. Bottled unfiltered, with no additions (ever). You’ve probably seen Gabrio’s iconic arrow label and lusted after its contents ... THIS TIME IT’S POINTING AT YOU.
