This is “Lurtz”, which is not only a wine, but a terrifying Uruk-Hai made famous by the line “What do you smell? Man-flesh” in the LOTR trilogy. This wine, as it stands, does not smell like man-flesh, but instead is a rollicking rip snorter of a Central Ranges Shiraz, full of crunchy berries blue and black, earthy notes and fresh acid. This wine, as it stands, does not smell like man-flesh, but instead is a rollicking rip snorter of a Central Ranges Shiraz, full of crunchy berries blue and black, earthy notes and fresh acid. Chill it and it looks like a lovely Loire Valley red. Sally Rainbows is a wonderful human being that was a staple part of the Sydney hospo wining and dining scene, showing punters from early on what it meant to drink natural wine. However in the last few years he has followed the fabled flute song that hits some wine professionals, leading them to a life tending to the vines instead of merely selling the finished product. Sad face not seeing him across the bar top these days, but happy face that now we get to drink his wines!
