Tempranillo comes into the foray and adds a razor sharp strawberry twang to the wine. Texture like delicate white tea, a palate full of blood orange, peaches and rose petals, with a slight hint of bubble gum. Low ABV and here on the cusp of a sun drenched Summer. Miam. Evan Lewandowski is a soulful, spiritual winemaker, based in California. He used to ship all of his fruit from Cali to Utah (hence the shape of the label), but he’s now properly based in the sunshine state. Though he has an affinity with the European wines that shaped him, the wines are quintessentially nouveau-American, reflecting a lot of our modern winemaking here in Aus. We are welcoming Evan’s wines for the first time in Australia, we don’t get to see many modern, living wines from there, but hopefully this opens the floodgates. And how could it not!?
