Originally from Burgundy, born into a family of winemakers, Romuald Valot left the Côte d’Or feeling disenchanted with the smoke and mirrors he encountered all over the region. In 2013 he bought a cottage in the remote hills of Beaujeu, in the far west of Beaujolais, and started to do things his way. The vines are planted over granite and are a hundred years old. At five hundred metres above sea level, they are amongst the very highest in the region but most importantly, they are deeply separate from the wider world, allowing Romuald to be hermetic, one with nature.
