2019 Coal Valley Riesling
R.D'Meure is a tiny producer in Birchs Bay, Tasmania, run by Rory Duggan. Rory's '19 Riesling is a pristine wine that's concentrated yet bouyant, firm yet flowing, textural yet smooth, fresh yet savoury. It really swings boths ways – very special stuff. The grapes see 24 hours maceration on skins before being barrel fermented to dry where it undergoes full malolactic fermentation. Aged for 1 year in old French oak barriques, and then 1 year in bottle before release. Just 500 bottles produced.
