Rabasco - 2018 Rosso Cancelli Montepulciano

Located in the village of Pianella, in the heart of Abruzzo, Iole Rabasco inherited her family’s small 3.5ha vineyard and olive grove – which have never been treated with chemicals. The vines across the property – almost all Montepulciano, with a couple rows of Trebbiano – are quite old, growing on calcareous clay mixed with alluvial sediment and fossils. Vines are all worked by hand and yields are kept low.

This Montepulciano is all things cherry, berry and merry. Red and black cherries, sour cherry, raspberry and blackberry chant in harmony as they bloom in your mouth. There's an echo of earth, a mineral crunch and a tannic nibble on the finish. The juice is softer than a mother’s touch and smoother than a baby’s bum. It's crafted with fruit from 40 year-old vines, wild fermentated in stainless using a reductive method to keep the fruit expression bright and pure. Aged in stainless steel with zero added sulphur and no filtering or fining. This is a chameleon wine for any occasion.
