Podere Sassi - NV Portami Via

‘Portami Via’ means ‘take me away’; an apt name for this celestial Ciliegiolo. Sipping it is like slipping into a dream, where you find yourself crossing temporal bounds and flying through faraway lands. It's a voyage of flavours conveyed with pillow-soft texture – black cherry, cedar, sage, spice, baked fruit, happiness, faint confection, forest floor, cocoa, cranberry, mountain air, apple stem... Wow. Zero added sulphur. Natty, but super clean.

Podere Sassi sits on the border of Lazio and Umbria, a place of hilltop villages, medieval castles and tiny vineyard plots overlooking the lower valley of the Sabina region. ‘Podere Sassi’ means the ‘Sassi family farm’, from which many of the ingredients are sourced for their historic bakery and restaurant in Rome, Panificio Nazzareno. Led by Leo Sassi, the family only produce 15,000 bottles in total of their four handcrafted wines, that are as natural as the sun. While they wait for their 3ha vineyard to grow, they source fruit from their long trusted neighbour.
