 From deep in the hills of Montefalco in the central Italian province of Perugia, father and sons Paolo, Giampiero and Giuseppe Bea produce some of Italy’s most powerful and age-worthy wines. The Pipparello vineyard, after which this wine is named is clay and gravel and the vines are at least 20 years old. A blend of 60% Sangiovese, 25% Montepulciano and 15% Sagrantino, the wine spends 12 months in stainless steel tanks, followed by 2 years in oak and 1 year in bottle before release. The Pipparello vineyard, after which this wine is named is clay and gravel and the vines are at least 20 years old. A blend of 60% Sangiovese, 25% Montepulciano and 15% Sagrantino, the wine spends 12 months in stainless steel tanks, followed by 2 years in oak and 1 year in bottle before release. Dark ruby red in colour. Aromas of red cherries and plums with notes of liquorice and earth. On the palate, intense smooth texture with elegant acidity leading to a persistent finish.
