2019 Petit Ours
A subtle, supple, crunchy Syrah bulging with juicy black fruits; blackcurrant, blackberries, black cherries, plum and blueberry, with glimmers of other things that elude gustatory grasp (maybe anise, chocolate, earth, leather and pepper?). You will enjoy this wine, beary much. It's 100% Syrah grown with biodynamic methods in Visan, about an hour South of the Domaine. Fruit was carefully hand harvested, destemmed by hand, wild fermented and matured for 9 months in concrete vats (to preserve the fruit purity). No added sulphur.
From legendary French winemaker Matthieu Barret, a 7th generation vigneron of Domaine de Coulet in Cornas. Matthieu's winemaking evolution has been one of increasing purity, beginning with his first vintage in 2000 employing organic viticulture. In 2012 he stopped using machines altogether, replacing them with mules, horses, humans and hands. He also created ‘green spaces’ around the farm, digging watering holes to nourish the ecosystem.
