2017 Barolo DEMI
Fig leaf oil, forest fruit, new leather boots and pea flower are the first to appear once awakened from it’s five year slumber. Palate wise it is rich and structured, sour cherry, five spice and resin, turned earth. This is an incredible wine for what is considered “entry” in the Massolino line up. And in a baby bottle too! Massolino is a wonderful benchmark in terms of quality wines from Piemonte. Everything feels masterful, profound and will live a long life, from the Langhe Dolcetto to the cru Barolo. Some of this can be attributed to most of the family’s twenty-three hectares residing within the sacred soils of Serralunga. Great if you’re starting to learn about the region, or you want something reliable.
