Persian poet Omar Khayyam gives the namesake for this wine, famed for his hundreds and hundreds of works praising the art of drinking wine. As we are in the Rhone, and Mas de Libian is a purist, this is mostly Grenache, with its noble knights - Mourvedre and Syrah, protecting and supporting one another. More and more though we see producers like Mas de Libian exploring better sites across this wide appellation, and making wines that exude a much more precise, memorable sense of self.
