Lucy Margaux - 2019 Light Red
"Most of the fruit comes from ‘Robert Surmann’s Vineyard’ is in Totness and has Black Sandy soil on petrified schist, it is V.S.P. Trained and spur pruned. We converted Robs farm to organic’s 8 years ago and now the vineyard is enlivened and amazing. How the wine was made: 35% Pinot Gris (Clone: ‘unknown’) vine age is 26 years old, own roots (not grafted), 35% Gamay grafted 4 years ago on own rooted THEN THE REST!! Chardonnay Merlot, Pinot Blanc, Sangiovese, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Franc, Sauvignon Blanc. The wine is mostly carbonic and assemblages on a 2200L oak barrel Notes: Made for me, like me, a little fucked-up for me, because ‘some of us like it that way!’ The wine is a light pink/ red with plush rose hip savoury characters. Serve chilled’ a little bit glou-glou! Enjoy the taste of summer love any time of the year." – Anton Van Klopper
All of Anton's wines are made from organically farmed grapes, picked early for lower alcohol and vinified with zero additives. No chemicals are ever used in the winery – not even to clean (only water is used and occasionally alcohol which he distills himself). Wine for the purest of purists among you. It's basically healthy right?
