Some wines you have to try in your life. Alice’s are a good example. Made in impossibly small quantities, Alice Bouvot sets to work in her Arbois winery using organic grapes from her 3.6 hectares of vineyards scattered around and about the town. She has access to some of the most beautiful sites in the Jura; En Curon, La Maillloche, Les Nouvelles, etc. All it is is love, time and grapes. Some are classical expressions of an old region, oxidative and magical whites, or butterfly-footstep-light reds. The others, an almost diabolical twist from the norm, keep that aforementioned butterfly on its toes. Because there’s not a lot of fruit to rely on each year, she occasionally buys fruit from friends around France (as the De Moor’s do), but you can always tell her signature wine making stamp. There’s something there, and it’s truly beautiful.
