L'Anglore - 2019 Nizon

Domaine de l'Anglore spans 4ha in Tavel, an area renowned for its rosé production. Former beekeeper Eric Pfifferling turned to winemaking after seeing his bees die because of the insecticides used in the region. He practiced biodynamic viticulture from the very beginning. Old vines, low yields, gentle hand harvesting, wild ferments, no temperature control, no additions, no fining, no filtration … you get the gist. This is wildly pure stuff; and wildly sought-after. Today, Eric is joined by sons Thibault and Joris.

L'Anglore's 2019 Nizon is a blend of head pruned Grenache with Cinsault, Aramon and Clairette from the oldest vineyard in the family; the Nizon vineyard (quite close to Tavel, nearer to Avignon). Century-old vines grow on sandy quartz solis and are tended carefully by hand. Lingering between a red and rose, this is an ethereal wine that caresses every sense. So textural; so flavourful; so olfactory. Utterly intoxicating. Blink and you'll miss it.
