Wild berries, earth and that ozone, damp forest lift. There is always that sticky acid clinging to all the flavours. Lovely palate progression and flow that is textural and savoury with a spicy white pepper and clove finish.Set amongst the lush landscape of Mesnay are the home and vineyards of Patrice Beguet. Drawing inspiration from his love of jazz and the diverse scenery of Jura, Patrice's wines are electric, textural and complex. He employs organic vineyard practices and biodynamic rituals; no synthetics are ever used in the vineyard or winery, and most of the wines have no added sulphur.
His 2019 'Silk Blue' rouge is a true Jurrasic blend of Ploussard (75%), Trousseau (15%) and Savagnin. Imagine wearing silk in a forest – that's what it tastes like. Wild berries and damp earthy forest floor enshrouded in a lush, supple texture. Grapes were hand-harvested and half were fermented naturally in whole bunches while the other half saw a 6 month maceration in old oak barrel. The wine rested in stainless and accacia wood, then blended and bottled without filtration or added sulphites.
