Hughes Beguet - 2019 'Silk Blue' Rouge
Set amongst the lush landscape of Mesnay is the home and vineyards of Patrice Beguet. Drawing inspiration from his love of jazz and the diverse scenery of Jura, his wines is electric, textural and complex. Patrice uses organic vineyard practices and follows biodynamic rituals. No synthetics are ever used in the vineyard or winery, and most of the wines have no added sulphur.
His 2019 'Silk Blue' rouge is a true Jurrasic blend of Ploussard (75%), Trousseau (15%) and Savagnin. Imagine wearing silk in a forest – that's what it tastes like. Wild berries and damp earthy forest floor enshrouded in a lush, supple texture. Grapes were hand-harvested and half were fermented naturally in whole bunches while the other half saw a 6 month maceration in old oak barrel. The wine rested in stainless and accacia wood, then blended and bottled without filtration or added sulphites.
