2018 Luna & Gaia
An orange wine for those who like to sniff, sip and think. What a textural tapestry, woven with threads of dried fruits, peach, citrus, apricot, orange, mango, caramel, grapefruit, negroni...We could go on. A savoury border, and length for days. Beautiful soft tannins and a compelling complexity that keeps your lips lingering over the glass. Magnetic stuff. Ideal with foods, but also perfect as an aperitif.
In St Remy de Provence, Henri Milan – along with his son Théo and daughter Emmanuelle – crafts insanely elegant wines free from chemicals, additives, commercial yeasts and, usually, sulphur. The Luna & Gaïa is an extraordinary skin contact wine from the Milan family which is mainly Vermentino (Rolle) with the remainder comprising Roussanne and Grenache Blanc. It was pressed and the skins remained with the juice for 20 days in a concrete tank. The juice was then transferred to a fibreglass tank where it settled for one year. The name of this wine comes from the two dogs of the domaine – Luna the white Jack Russel and Gaïa the black Labrador. Yin yang dogs, yin yang wine.
