Frankly Bob Made This - 2020 Orange
"This is 100% Sauvignon Blanc from Cargo Road vineyard at Orange. The grapes were destemmed (not crushed) and fermented in stainless steel. Three weeks of maceration on the skins and then pressed and aged in stainless steel. Such a strange wine for us, as there was very little pigeage/punching down during ferment. So it isn't overly tannic and has none of the green notes that Sauvignon Blanc can give when on skins. Nice and light with a nice amount of grippy tannins. A wine for a warm Autumn day. What a tough year it was for all of us. An intense drought, grasshopper plagues, bushfires, then flooding and the virus shutdowns.
All reports hinted towards all grapes being unusable in NSW. Being one of the few natural winemakers in NSW who also farm made us worry about our growers wellbeing moving forward. So, we picked most of the fruit ourselves to lower costs under the agreement that we would pay our growers if the wine was sellable and drinkable. So here we are, with six wines to boot that we are actually very happy with." – Bob and Tom Coleman
