2018 Cotillon des Dames MAGNUM
The 2018 Cotillon des Dames is a blend of Jacquere and Altesse, two local varieties, that spend six months on skins, before being aged in neutral oak on fine lees for a year and bottled with no sulphur additions. Plenty of preserved lemon, an apricot twang, walnut and fresh fennel. It really does feel like it was gathered in a spring on top of a mountain. The Savoie has been sneaking up to the Jura in the “trendy” world of natural wines, and honestly, we’re here for it. Mountain wine is here to stay! Jean-Yves Peron has been making what can only be described as sensational wines in Savoie since 2004. The incline of the vineyards in this region mirror something like Mosel, one is rather abseiling, rather than just grape-tending.
