2017 Chateauneuf Du Pape Rouge
Founded in 1955, Jean-Paul Versino's Domaine Bois de Boursan is an exemplar of deeply traditional Chateauneuf du Pape. His wines deliver all the refined yet rustic characteristics of this special appellation, with tremendous texture and energy. This wine fuses 65% Grenache, 15% Mourvèdre and 15% Syrah, with 5% left to the remaining CdP varieties. Really classy stuff, with serious aging potential (but also delicious right this second). Concentrated and curvaceous, evoking lavender, garrigue, stones, ash and fresh, sappy fruit. A loooong dramatic finish leaving you with some sweet dark berries. Pop it in your decanter, go on.
