2019 Rorick Chardonnay
Intoxicating scents of orange blossoms, apricot, rockmelon and sweet cream fill your nose with joy, while your mouth luxuriates in fresh citrus, ripe pear, cultured butter and white flowers. Wonderful weight, whilst still being weightless. This Chardy is the stuff of celestial beings. A wine for sniffing and sipping, slowly.
Fruit from a unique site high in the Sierra Foothils just outside of the town of Murphis, California. The vines are own-rooted and planted in the late sixties in schist soils over a limestone bedrock. The vine age, elevation, and rocky soils create incredibly low yielding vines with the tiniest clusters. The grapes were hand harvested and gently pressed using a long Champagne press cycle. Juice was transferred to neutral barrels and fermentation occurred spontaneously. An absolute gem from Northern Cali.
