2020 Pinot Noir Budenberg Vineyard
The Budenberg Vineyard Pinot Noir comes from the fabled Whisson plot in the Adelaide Hills. The quality of the fruit grown in this site is hard to beat, and you can see that this wine will continue to express itself for many years. There’s currant, cranberry and an iron rich element, fresh red earth. Enoki mushroom, leather. Hints of spices and wildflowers. The tannins have a bit to go, and it will benefit from some bottle age, but will still be enjoyed in its youth.
CRFT is Candice Helbig and Frewin Ries. They focus on small-batch, single vineyard wines, using fruit sourced from a handful of blocks in South Australia’s Adelaide Hills, Barossa Valley and Eden Valley. Their wines are always very pure, very focussed and keenly made, but they are so with a vivacity that is hard to imitate.
