Gin and Tonic. Absolute classic. Did you know this cocktail was invented in the early 19th century by the army of the British East India Company in India? In India and other tropical regions, malaria was a problem. Quinine, a traditional cure for malaria, could be used to prevent the disease, so quinine was drunk in tonic water – but the bitter taste was yuck. So, British officers in India started adding a mixture of water, sugar, lime and gin to the quinine to make it more palatable, and thus the G+T was born.
It's a chameleon cocktail – perfect for any occasion. After a long day, to start a long day, as an aperitif or as a digestive. We suggest one part gin to two parts tonic, lots of ice and lime wheel topper. Aaaaaaah.
