We like to refrain from the word sophisticated as it implies elitism, and in the wine world we operate in, wine is for everyone. However, if you expected a wine to sit upright and have a Nicole Kidman like aura, well, this one would be it. Merlot-dominant Bordeaux blend from a true lo-fi producer in a not so often lo-fi region. Wonderful value too, for those looking for scratch the Bordeaux itch. Sensuous, full of dark plums, blueberries, sing song tannin and pencil shavings. A wonderful wine, sitting perfectly midweight. Jean-Pierre Amoreau and his son Pascal farm a small 50 hectare vineyard in the 'Côtes de Francs' region of Bordeaux. The farming over the years in Bordeaux has improved dramatically in concentrated areas, much owing to the success and example led by Château le Puy. They have been around since 1610, producing some of the finest examples of not only biodynamic Bordeaux, but fine-boned Bordeaux in general. They are clear, precise and worth the time to mull over.
