Cascina Tavijn - 2018 Communist G Par Tout

"An unusual Grignolino obtained by carbonic maceration; Grignolino is placed whole bunches in tank and saturated with CO2. Ten days of carbonic maceration then pressed gently by feet. Wild character with a delicious, velvety, rounded tannin" – Giorgio de Maria

Nadia Verrua is a young winemaker in Scurzolengo, on the Hills of Monferrato. Since 1908 Nadia's family have been cultivating grapes and making wines for family consumption, but it wasn't until 1998 that Nadia – with the help of her father Ottavio – decided to bottle and sell the wine under the name of Cascina Tavijn. Tavijn comprises 5ha of vineyards and 2ha of hazelnut trees, all organically grown (certified since 2007). In the cellar, Nadia works with as little intervention as possible and with only native varieties: Grignolino, Ruche, Barbera, Freisa, Slarina and Baratuciat.
