The Bryterlater Yonda Syrah was made from two batches, one fermented with carbonic maceration, the other with a wild ferment, after which the Syrah was matured in old oak barrels for 11 months. James Graves Opie, was originally a sommelier then moved to New Zealand to make wine in the Waipara Valley, situated in the Canterbury wine region. A fascinating site, with such a diverse array of soil types that have attracted a lot of younger, future thinking makers and growers. Sum of parts winemaking.
