2016 Barolo DOCG
A father and son run estate in the heart of La Morra, this is a Barolo for those who favour the elegant and understated, as opposed to the full frontal, powerful, punch in the face styles that drink young from the region. Haunting florals; red roses, poppies, hibiscus, wrapped up in velvety tannins that remind one of sitting in the theatre, about to watch some burlesque. Andrea, the father, worked as a bus driver before inheriting the estate from his father, but due to Barolo’s explosion onto the auction market, now commits solely to the winery with his son. The duo work their small plots sustainably, marked in the wines by their incredible liveliness and complexity. Pop this one in the cellar for up to eight years if you can store correctly, much to be savoured here.
