2016 ValCerasa Etna Rosso
This is a fantastic example of Nerello Mascalese, grown in mineral, volcanic soil on the northern slopes of Mt Etna. Ruby red in hue, it's a joyous wine singing with spicy pepper and juicy cherry. Whiffs of red fruit sail from the glass. It was aged in small French oak barrels for 4 years, and then a year in bottle, which gives this wine wonderful texture and a long, forget-me-not finish.
