Evan Lewandowski is a soulful, spiritual winemaker, based in California. Though he has an affinity with the European wines that shaped him, the wines are quintessentially nouveau-American, reflecting a lot of new winemaker styles here. We are welcoming Evan’s wines for the first time in Australia, we don’t get to see many modern, living wines from there, but hopefully this opens the floodgates. And how could it not!? Here we see Carignan, Grenache and Cabernet Sauvignon from an old vineyard in Mendocino County, California. Medium in body, it is rich with spices, black pepper, nutmeg and caraway, cuddled with purple fruits and black olives. Light on its feet but concentrated in flavour.
