2021 Screaming Betty Vermentino
Betty is screaming for YOU. And you are screaming for Betty. Lots of loud noises. Betty is wild fermented Vermentino from the Bassham Family organic and biodynamic vineyard in Barmera. Farmented in stainless steel, the wine also spent 4 months on fine lees, stirred twice weekly, giving it a beautiful textural edge not often found in Aussie Vermentinos. The cooler vintage conditions meant that acids remained high, even as sugar levels increased, creating more depth of flavour than previous years. Freshness and drinkability sitting at 11 out of 10.
Greg Grigoriou makes minimal intervention wines from unique Southern Italian grape varieties growing in the Riverland, from two organically farmed vineyards. Though this region is often associated with high volume, low-quality wines, Delinquente shows us the vast vinous potential when the right fruit in the right climate with the right farming and the right vinification come together in perfect synergy.
